The origins of belly dance is very vague. However it possibly can be
traced to the Middle East, Mediterranean and Africa. In the Arabic
language, the term belly dancing can be roughly translated to mean
"exotic oriental dance". This suggested an exotic dance that may have
originated in another place. The art of belly dance was held in higher
admiration than other local dances.
Belly dance was proposed for the female body, with an prominence on
abdominal muscles, hip moves, and chest moves. It was a dance of
sexuality performed by women for women. Click Zira's eyes for a

American tribal style takes this one step further, with improvisation,
turn of a hand, flick of an arm and sensual movement, swaying of the
hips, accentuating the female form. It transpires all the forms into
one. Fusion Tribal Belly Dance adds movements from modern American
dance, such as hip hop, urban, and folkloric, to the urban dances of
other parts of the world Belly Dance might have come to America in
Chicago Exposition in 1893 by
a dancer called 'Little Egypt'. Little Egypt danced in less revealing
costumes than those worn today, but her performance was too exotic for
Victorian way of life.
